Want to Hire a Wedding Photographer? 3 Tips for Analyzing Portfolios

Blog

The day that you get married is one that you may want to capture in memory, which means you may want to hire a wedding photographer that you know will satisfy your wants and needs.

While you may know how to find professionals and check out their portfolios, you may not know the best way to go about analyzing them to determine which photographer to hire. An excellent strategy that can give you the results that you desire is by doing a deep dive into portfolios.

Weather

While experienced wedding photographers will likely have experience with shooting in most weather conditions, you can make sure of it through portfolio analysis. If you plan to get married when rainfall is a common occurrence, you should ask a photographer to see wedding photos that they have taken in the rain as this will show you how your photos are most likely to look.

When you feel confident about a photographer's ability to capture photos in the most difficult weather conditions, you may know that you are going to get a high-quality photo collection.

Guest Count

If you want to have a large guest count at your wedding, you may want to know that your photographer will be able to handle such a crowd. While many photos will focus on individuals or small groups, you may also expect to get photos with the entire guest count included.

A professional that has photographed as large as the one that you are planning means that they should have at least a few photos to show off what they are capable of doing.

Planned Shots

Coming up with a list of planned shots before hiring a photographer is a great idea because you can use it to help with portfolio analysis. Many planned shots may involve portrait shots for different combinations of guests, which is something that most photographers excel at doing.

This may allow you to find enough photos from social media and online portfolios to feel confident about a photographer's ability to satisfy your demands regarding planned shots. If there are any specific shots missing that you want to know a photographer can handle, you can bring them up before meeting in person so that they can compile a list to satisfy your needs.

Going through these steps of portfolio analysis for a wedding photographer will help you hire the ideal professional for the job.

Good Photos Preserve Great Memories

When I was a child, it seemed like my parents never stopped taking photos of me and my brothers. I actually began to hide every time they got the camera out. When I moved out on my own, I vowed to never own a camera. I ended up purchasing a cell phone that had one, and after playing around with it a little, I learned how much fun it was to take photos! I loved it so much I went to school to learn how to be a professional photographer, and I enjoy every minute of my job. Just the other day, I took a look at all of my family's old photos and, I have to admit, I am so glad my parents took them! I have a little spare time to fill, so I decided to start a blog to share my photography tips! Come back often!
